4th Annual Holiday Toy Drive

150 children ranging in age from newborn to seventeen need our help this Christmas! This is our 4th Annual Holiday Toy Drive for the Salvation Army Westwood Transitional Village. The Westwood Transitional Village is a 40-unit residential housing facility that provides support services for homeless families. Families can spend up to two years at Westwood while they stabilize and acquire the skills needed for independent living.

Below is the list of all the children needing gifts. We typically spend about $25 per child. Toys can be dropped off at Giant Robot (2015 Sawtelle Blvd or 2062 Sawtelle Blvd), West LA Garden, or contact Greg at gericksen80@gmail.com to arrange for a drop off. Please bring unwrapped toys!

Serve West LA - Become a member of our Board of Directors. We are excited to announce that we are seeking new board members for West LA Community Coalition.

The West LA Community Coalition improves the quality of life for our community by connecting people, resources, and causes to create meaningful, lasting change for our community.

We are seeking up to four (4) new members to join our board. If you love West LA, and want to help us create a better community, then consider applying.

West LA Utility Box Art Project - Proposals DUE April 7, 2019

Councilmember Mike Bonin, Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, West LA Sawtelle Neighborhood Council, and West LA Community Coalition are joining forces to beautify our community. We love public art, and are bringing the "Utility Box Art Project" to West LA as a way of adding more neighborhood character to local utility boxes with fresh, inspiring designs. Local artists with an idea for a utility box in West LA, should submit a proposal by April 7, 2019. Below are the list of requirements for the design proposal.

All proposals should be submitted by April 7, 2019 to Eric Nakamura at gr.eric.nakamura@gmail.com. Late submissions will not be considered.

West LA Bridge Housing

This Tuesday, Jan. 29 from 6:30-7:30 at Felicia Mahood Center learn about a new bridge housing proposal at the West Los Angeles Armory that will connect housing and services to individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.

West LA Community supports this proposal and are looking forward to helping find ways to alleviate homelessness in our community!

Community Garden coming to West LA!

Today is a very exciting day for #WestLA! After a year long process, our persistence and desire to Get Things Done has finally paid off!

West LA Community Coalition has been granted right of entry to Felicia Mahood Senior Citizen Center to build a inter-generational teaching garden. We will need your help to transform this area into a beautiful garden and outdoor space for our seniors and the community. We will be sharing more information in the coming weeks so stay tuned!!!
